EDWARD ADOLPHUS SEYMOUR, 12TH DUKE OF SOMERSET (1804-85)

Letter from the Duke of Somerset to the Prince Consort

21 Mar 1860

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (3 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/Z/466/8

Letter from the Duke of Somerset to the Prince Consort reporting that before requesting a Canadian steamer he had enquired with the Colonial Office on the 'railway communication' between Quebec and Montreal. He believes that a steamer would be an inconvenient residence for the Prince of Wales. He asks whether one should be fitted for purpose or whether a residence would be prepared at Montreal.
