Letter from the Duke of Newcastle to the Prince Consort
Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/Z/466/39
Letter from the Duke of Newcastle to the Prince Consort, from aboard the H.M.S. 'Hero', reporting that the Cornish Volunteers had received leave from the War Office to fire a salute for the Prince of Wales. However, they would not make it in time and as a result the ship would not set sail as early as intended. He also mentions that Captain Seymour would prefer that the ship set sail later as he believes that the fleet cannot be formed in time.
