Sir Robert Peel writes that he has seen Colonel Rowan and have together with Sir James Graham given him instructions to have the police on alert. He states that there were 24 police on duty between the gate of St James's Palace and the Marble Archway when Queen Victoria was passing last Sunday. Sir Robert Peel also mentions that the Archbishop of Canterbury has received two similar letters as to that addressed to the Duchess of Kent.
