Letter from Lord John Russell to Prince Albert
16 Oct 1849Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (8 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/M/21/64
Letter from Lord John Russell to Prince Albert stating that he thinks Colonel Phipps is well qualified for his new role however he is doubtful whether Colonel Grey should take on two roles. He also agrees that Colonel Romilly would be a good fit as Equerry to the Prince however believes he has left the army so would be ineligble for the role. He instead suggests one of the present Grooms-in-Waiting be promoted to the role and Mr Grenville Berkley fill the vacant Groom-in-Waiting position.
