Draft letter from Colonel Charles Beaumont Phipps to Thomas Cockerill apologising for any disappointment caused by his previous letter however pointing out that there have been some misunderstandings. Phipps asserts that the allowance being proposed is a generous one and that Anson had not offered Cockerill the role for life.
