A facsimile of a drawing now in the Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi, Florence (inv. no.1217E). Lettered with production details, dedication and dedicatee's coat of arms. Dated: 1782, and numbered : 2, on plate. Published in S. Mulinari, Scuola Italiana o sia Nuova Raccolta di Stampe a Forma di Disegni, Florence 1787, plate 2.
The Uffizi drawing is generally described as a copy of a now lost modello executed by Raphael for the cartoon of St Paul Preaching at Athens, one of the ten tapestries illustrating episodes from the lives of St Peter and St Paul commissioned by Pope Leo X for the Sistine Chapel. A photograph of the drawing can be found at RCIN 853201.
