ADOLPHE BRAUN (1812-77)

A study of the upper half of a nude man

c.1853-1876

Albumen print | 15.6 x 11.4 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 854414

A photograph of a drawing depicting the upper half of a nude man now in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milan (inv. no. 356).

The online catalogue of the drawings in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana (see Bibliographic References) states that Padre Sebastiano Resta (the previous owner of this drawing) attributed the study to Raphael, but the drawing is now considered to be by an anonymous artist, who was inspired by Michelangelo's early drawings.
