JOHANN ANTON ALBAN RAMBOUX (1790-1866)

Madonna della Misericordia

c.1820-1866

Lithograph | 30.5 x 26.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 850122

A lithograph after a painting that Ruland (1876) attributed to Giovanni Santi (Raphael's father). The two figures kneeling to the right of the composition were formerly supposed to show Raphael and his mother. Lettered with the title and numbered: "93". Plate no.93 from a-yet-unidentified set.

The painting reproduced in this print is presumably the 'Madonna della Misericordia' altarpiece in the church of Montefiore Conca (previously in the church of the Hospital) which has been recently attributed to Bernardino Dolci (c.1490).
