Photograph of a group of soldiers from the 4th Dragoon Guards gathered on a hillside around a wooden hut with French soldiers and Mrs Rogers. One man is lying down and the rest are standing or sitting. Mrs Rogers stands to the right holding a container and a man is mounted on a horse behind her facing left.
The 4th Dragoon Guards served during the Crimean War and fought in the Battle of Balaklava. Mrs Rogers, the wife of a non-commissioned officer, acted as a cook and laundress for the regiment.
