Photograph of a full length double portrait of Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (1843-78), and Prince Louise, later Grand Duke of Hesse (1837-92). Princess Alice is seated and looks to the right. She holds her hands together in front of her. Prince Louis stands beside her. placing his right arm on the back of her chair and looking down at her. He holds a cane in his left hand.
