Photograph of a full length portrait of Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse (1843-78), standing, facing three-quarters to the left. She wear is dressed as the personification of Spring. She wears a floral headdress, light colour shirt, dark colour waistcoat, light colour sash, dark colour apron and light colour skirt. She carries a basket of flowers in her left hand and a rose in her right hand.

She is dressed for a performance of 'Tableaux of the Seasons' performance at Windsor Castle on 10 February 1854.
