Following Albert’s premature death, Victoria commissioned the creation of photographs and decorative objects that memorialised her beloved husband

There is an inscription on the pedestal reading `ALBERT/PRINCE CONSORT/BORN 26TH AUGUST,1819. DIED 14TH DECEMBER 1861./HE LAID THE FOUNDATION STONE OF THE/ROYAL DOCK,GREAT GRIMSBY,/ON THE 18TH APRIL 1849,/ AND THE DOCK WAS OPENED ON THE/ 27TH MAY 1852.'
