AFTER RAPHAEL (URBINO 1483-ROME 1520)

Two male heads with the head of a lion

1860

Albumen print | 17.9 x 19.5 cm (image) | RCIN 2864208

A photograph of a drawing now in Palais des Beaux Arts, Lille (inv. no. 493), where it is catalogued as possibly by Raphael.

This drawing is included in the catalogue of Raphael's drawings written by Joannides, where he notes that it is "unlike any other Raphael drawing. This little allegory of the fat and the thin presumably dates from c. 1507" (see Bibliographic References).

A copy of this photograph (RCIN 854487) can be found in the Prince Consort's Raphael Collection, portfolio 48 (970608)
