'The village choir'
1857Albumen print | 16.1 x 23.1 cm (image) | RCIN 2081473
Photograph of a painting of a village choir, showing a group of people standing on a church balcony. A selection of the people sing or play instruments, whilst others read their music books. The painting is photographed in its frame. A plaque stating 'T. WEBSTER, R.A.' is attached to the lower side of the frame.
At the time of the photograph, the painting was attributed to Thomas Webster (1800-86). It is more likely the painting is a copy of Webster's 1847 original.
