Photograph of 'Titania Sleeping' from William Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, originally painted by Richard Dadd (1817-86). The painting depicts Act 2 scene 1 of the play where Titania is shown sleeping, attended by three female nymphs and with Oberon looking on. She is surrounded by an arch of fairies and flowers. The painting is photographed in its frame and an identification number '31' can be seen in the lower left corner. A plaque attached to the lower edge of the frame reads 'DADD'.
At the time the photograph was taken, the painting was in the collection of Samuel Ashton. The painting is now in the collection of the Louvre, Paris.
