Photograph of an enamelled plaque created in the sixteen century and now in the collection of the Louvre, Paris (MR 2543). Attributed to Léonard Limosin, the work depicts the sea goddess Doris sitting naked on the left leg of Neptune. The two mythological figures are embracing and kissing. Beside them to the left stands Cupid holding a trident in the left hand and a bow in the right hand. A quiver of arrows hangs from his back. The scene was highy likely inspired by an engraving from Giovanni Jacopo Caraglio's (1500-1565) Love of the Gods series.
