Photograph of a painting by Paul Delaroche, created in 1856 and now in the collection of the Fondation Dosne-Thiers, Paris. This three-quarter length portrait of Adolphe Thiers (1797-1877) depicts the French politician on a staircase, facing to the viewer and turning his head to the right. His right hand rests on the stone balustrade in front of him, whilst his left hand holds a folder with documents.
