Photograph of a work by Paul Delaroche, created between 1840 and 1853. The image depicts the infant Moses in a basket which is floating on the Nile. Among the reeds occupying the riverside in the background stands a female figure, perhaps Moses' older sister. She is keeping watch, while shading her eyes with ther left hand.
