'John Lesley, Bishop of Ross'

Photograph of a head-and-shoulders portrait of John Lesley, Bishop of Ross (1527-96). Enclosed in an oval roundel, the sitter faces three-quarters to the right and looks at the viewer. He wears his robes of office and a biretta on his head. He is flanked by a Latin inscription on the left and his coats of arms on the right. 

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of Rev. Dr. Gillis (1802–64), Edinburgh. It has been suggested that the work is now in the collection of the Marischal Museum, University of Aberdeen.
