AFTER A WORK ATTRIBUTED TO ANDREA BOSCOLI (1550-1606)

Group of nude figures in a variety of poses

c. 1857

Albumen print? | RCIN 2864428

A photograph of a drawing currently in the Royal Library, Windsor Castle (RCIN 990412) where it is catalogued as 'attributed to' Andrea Boscoli. The drawing is a copy of a study by Raphael (c.1508-09) now in the Städel Museum, Graphische Sammlung, Frankfurt am Main (inv. no.379), preparatory for the lower left section of the Disputa (The Disputation of the Holy Sacrament) painted by Raphael in the Stanza della Segnatura in the Vatican between 1508 and 1511.

Ruland (1876) suggested that the Windsor copy is the work of Primaticcio. A photograph of the Städel drawing can be found at RCIN 852426

A copy of this photograph (RCIN 852430) can be found in the Prince Consort's Raphael Collection, portfolio 24 (970583)
