GEORGE WASHINGTON WILSON (1823-93)

St George's Chapel

1863

Albumen print | 10.7 x 8.0 cm (image) | RCIN 2117194

Photograph of the nave of St George's Chapel facing towards the east, with the organ pipes visible above the stone choir screen.

This photograph is typical of the album print that Wilson introduced in the autumn of 1863. These were often taken from one half of a stereoscopic negative that Wilson already had in his collection which omitted the need to re-photograph a scene.
