Photograph of Prince Alfred (1844-1900), later the Duke of Saxe Coburg and Gotha, seated on a small pony in left side profile and facing the viewer. The Prince holds a piece of tartan that is draped over the pony. John MacDonald (d. 1860) stands on the left, holding the ponies bridle and wearing Scottish Highland costume. Taken in an outside location with hills in the background.
