A print after a circular painting attributed on plate to Raphael. According to Ruland (1876), the painting was once housed in the Rospigliosi Palace, Rome (the plate is dedicated to Cardinal Giulio Rospigliosi, later Pope Clement IX) and according to Passavant (1860, no. 255) it passed subsequently into the possession of Duc de Tallard, Paris. Lettered with production details, dedication and dedicatee's coat of arms. Showing the full-length Virgin kneeling down before the Christ Child with her hands clasped in adoration, and with St Joseph genuflecting behind the Child while looking at Him on the right; in a landscape with ruins.
