Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

WILLIAM BAMBRIDGE (1820-79)

White stag in Windsor Great Park

c. 1854

RCIN 2083068

Photograph of a white stag, probably in Windsor Great Park. The stag stands in the middle ground, facing towards the left, his head is truned towards the camera. There are trees in the background.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection, however a variant is possibly RCIN 2800717.
