Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

ATTRIBUTED TO ROGER FENTON (1819-69)

View of the Grounds at Windsor

c. 1857

25.4 x 30.5 cm (whole object) | RCIN 2079365

Glass plate negative of a mixed stand of trees within the grounds at Windsor, seen across a lawn area occupying a third of the image.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints by Fenton from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
