Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

ATTRIBUTED TO ROGER FENTON (1819-69)

View of the Grounds at Windsor

c.1857

30.5 x 38.0 cm (whole object) | RCIN 2079311

Glass plate negative of a view of a lawn area within the grounds at Windsor. A tree bench can be seen on the right, while various trees are rising in the background.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints by Fenton from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
