Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods
The Prince of Wales with his entourage in Rome
1859RCIN 2082444
Glass plate negative of the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII (1841-1910) with his entourage in Rome, where the prince studied between January and June 1859. The group includes Major General Robert Bruce, Reverend CF Tarver, Dr T Chambers and Captain GH Grey.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection, however a variant from the same sitting is represented by RCIN 2922838.
