Glass plate negative of a full-length group portrait, taken at Osborne House. Queen Victoria (1819-1901) is standing, wearing a shawl and bonnet, with her back to the viewer. Beside her, leaning over a table in profile is Luis, Duke of Oporto, later Luis I, King of Portugal (1838-89). He faces his older brother, Pedro V, King of Portugal (1837-61) who is seated facing three-quarters to the right, his face captured in profile. He holds a piece of paper in one hand and places it on top of the table.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2906170.
