Group portrait at Balmoral

18 - 18 Oct 1858

RCIN 2082952

Glass plate negative of a full-length group portrait taken at Balmoral. Queen Victoria (1816-1901) is seated on her pony, Malakoff. The Honourable Horatia Stopford (1835-1920) stands on the right, by the pony's head, facing towards the camera. Jane, Baroness Churchill (1826-1900) stands beside the Queen. John Brown (1826-83) holds the pony.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2906731.
