7 - 7 Apr 1859RCIN 2083643
Glass plate negative of a full length double portrait of Prince Leopold and Prince Arthur. Prince Leopold stands next to Prince Arthur who is seated on a chair. They look at one another and Prince Arthur places one hand on Prince Leopold's shoulder. They are dressed in the costumes of sons of King Henry IV, including a tunic with pointed collar and tights.
The negative has been masked out, indicating the photographer's intention to crop the work to the smaller frame.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative exists in the Collection (e.g. RCINs 2900169 and 2373717).
