Glass plate negative of a full length double portrait of Prince Arthur with Major Elphinstone, his tutor. The Major is seated on a chair, his legs crossed. He faces to the leftt, his face captured in profile, and rests one hand on the prince's shoulder. Prince Arthur places his right foot on the chair seat and looks towards teh camera. He holds a hat in his right hand and a sword hilt in his left. 

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2900292.
