Prince Arthur
c. 1857RCIN 2082969
Glass plate negative of a full-length portrait of Prince Arthur seated on a pony called 'Topsy'. They both face to the right and appear against a building with two windows in the wall, probably on the Balmoral estate. The young Prince wears a tartan shawl and glengarry hat. The Pony is held by its bridle by J Poltred who wears a top hat and along jacket.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2160338
