Glass plate negative depicting two paintings placed on an easel for the purpose of photography. The paintings, both by Franz Xaver Winterhalter, are a portrait of Jane, Marchioness of Ely (RCIN 400758), and a portrait of Queen Victoria and her third son, Prince Arthur (RCIN 405963).
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
