Glass plate negative of Monk, described as Queen Victoria's 'Scotch terrier'. The dog is lying on the ground against a stone wall, probably at Balmoral. Monk died in August 1860 at the age of 13.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative (RCIN 2105203) can be found in an album belonging to Queen Victoria.
