Glass plate negative of a photograph of a full length portrait of John Brown, standing, facing towards the camera. He rests his left hand on a table to the left. He wears a tweed kilt, jacket and waistcoat, cap and sporan.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from the original negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2160374.
