Glass plate negative of a full-length portrait of four ghillies standing, facing towards the camera. They all pose with bundles of wood or reeds held over their shoulders. The ghillies are, from right to left, James Smith, W. A. Kennedy, T. Morgan and John Brown. Photograph taken at Balmoral.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2160080.
