Glass plate negative of a full length, group portrait tof (from right to left) Colonel Charles Phipps, Frederick Waymouth Gibbs, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, Prince Albert, Baron Christian Friedrich Stockmar, Dr. Ernst Becker and Baron Ernest Stockmar.
The sitters stand in a line, facing towards the camera. They pose in front of a dark colour sheet, used as a backdrop. The photograph was taken at Buckingham Palace. There is a tree and a built structure located on the far left side of the photograph, indicating the photograph was likely taken outside, on the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints form this negative exist in the Collection (e.g. RCINs 2906238 and 2906654).
