Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

Glass plate negative of members of the royal family and household posed around and in an open carriage drawn by a horse. A groom stands by the horse's head. Beside him stands Victoria, the Princess Royal. Princess Alice and Queen Victoria, who hold the horse's reins, are seated in the carriage. Albert Edward, Prince of Wales stands near the end of the carriage. Photograph taken at Windsor on the 17th wedding anniversary of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2106419.
