Albert Edward, Prince of Wales

Aug 1855

RCIN 2084859

Glass plate negative of three-quarter length double portrait of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII (1841-1910) and Prince Alfred, later Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1844-1900). Prince Alfred is seated, facing towards the camera. The Prince of Wales stands, facing three-quarters to the left. He gazes ahead, away from the camera, and place his hand on his brother's shoulder.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2900051.
