JOHN JABEZ EDWIN MAYALL (1813-1901)

Gold pendant with portraits of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria

c. 1860

Gold pendant with pearls, containing two hand coloured photographs | 4.9 x 3.8 cm (whole object) | RCIN 14913

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert regularly gifted presents of jewellery with personal touches, including hair, photographs and sometimes their children's baby teeth.

This pendant features hand-coloured photographs of the couple. The construction of the pendant allows for the pendant to swivel so both sides can be revealed.
