This photograph of the constuction of the Royal Mausoleum at Frogmore shows the structure covered with scaffolding. This photograph is from a small photograph album featuring albumen prints of the interiors of Windsor Castle and Frogmore House that had been occupied by Prince Albert. The album also includes photographs of the construction of the Royal Mausoleum and Prince Albert's effigy. A selection of pages from this album feature annotations underneath the photographs in Queen Victoria's hand.  On the first page of the album, Victoria has written:

Dear rooms of the happiest past and the most horrible reality. Victoria. 1863
