Letter from William Gladstone to Prince Albert informing him that he has not been able to select a suitable successor to Sir Eardley Wilmot. He states that it is of the utmost importance that Wilmot be relieved of his duties at once, so proposes that Mr [Charles] La Trobe, Superintendent of Port Phillip, be appointed to the role until a successor can be found.
