In response to a letter from Charles Ruland (see VIC/ADDA10/85/147), White writes that the Committee of the Foundling Hospital is willing for the Raphael cartoon of 'The Massacre of the Innocents' to be photographed for the Prince Consort, with no limitation as to the numbers of prints, as they consider that bringing such works of art to public notice is a good way of promoting art itself. As the cartoon is large, glazed and fixed in a room he asks for notice to make preparations for the photography.
