PHILIPP HOFF (ACTIVE C. 1860S)
Letter from the photographer Philipp Hoff to Charles Ruland saying he is ready to photograph the Raphael drawings in the Städel Institut in Frankfurt and asking for the required measurements of the photographs.
4 Feb 1860Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/445
Hoff writes to say that he has taken the necessary steps and is waiting for better weather; he will take the photographs as soon as he knows the what the measurements should be. If the weather improves enough Ruland may get the photographs before the end of this month, but Hoff needs an approximate measurement at least. He will do his best to obtain photographs that will last, for which bright light is necessary.
Ruland has written a note on the letter recording that he had sent the information and a request for 3 prints of each photograph.
