WALTER FRANCIS MONTAGU-DOUGLAS-SCOTT, 5TH DUKE OF BUCCLEUCH AND 7TH DUKE OF QUEENSBURY (1806-84)
Letter from the Duke of Buccleuch to General Grey giving permission for his Raphael cartoon of the Vision of Ezekiel to be photographed.
29 Mar 1859Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/53
The Duke writes that he is willing for a photograph to be taken for the Prince of the Raphael cartoon at Boughton of the Vision of Ezekiel. But he adds that providing enough light for this will be difficult because the cartoon is too large and delicate to be moved out of the room where it is; he also mentions that he gave permission for Messrs Colnaghi to photograph it some time ago, but they have not yet done so.
