SIR AUGUSTUS BERKELEY PAGET (1823-96)
Letter from the British Envoy to Denmark to General Charles Grey concerning the photographing of works by, or attributed to, Raphael in the Danish royal collection.
21 Feb 1860Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/526
Paget acknowledges receipt of a letter from Grey; he has given the enclosed memorandum to Mr Thiele, who will be happy to send the negatives of the photogaphs taken for the Prince Consort if he wants them. He is now sending a portfolio containing photographs of the drawings attributed to Raphael.
He apologises for the delay in having the 'Apothecary' photographed; this is because the picture cannot be removed from the gallery at Christiansborg, which is too cold and dark at present for the photography to be done.
