SIR AUGUSTUS BERKELEY PAGET (1823-96)

Letter from Sir Augustus Paget, the British Envoy to Denmark, to General Charles Grey concerning the photographing of works by Raphael in Copenhagen.

21 Dec 1859

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/525

In response to a letter from Grey, Paget confirms that the picture he mentioned before was the 'Adoration of the three Kings', as suggested by Dr. Becker; in Copenhagen it is thought to be definitely an original [by Raphael]. He will have the 'Apothecary' photographed as requested, and will convey the Prince Consort's thanks to Mr Thiele, and he will write again concerning the drawings in the latter's collection.
