Papers relating to Prince Albert’s personal life and enthusiasms

Letter from Robert Bingham to Dr. Ernst Becker reporting on his agreement with the authorities at the Musée Wicar and announcing that the prints of the drawings at the Louvre are nearly ready.

11 Nov 1859

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/226

Bingham reports that he was kindly received at Lille, where the directors of the Musée Wicar will allow the reproduction of their drawings on condition of having four copies presented to them. Kuhlmann thinks the city of Lille would be pleased if the photographs could be published under the patronage of Prince Albert and will write to Becker about this. Bingham anticipates some trouble with light for the photography but has hopes of a solution. He will begin the work the following week if he has Becker's list. He reports that the prints of the Louvre drawings are nearly ready, and asks how many Prince Albert wants. He adds a note, in response to a letter just received from Becker, that he has not sent the prints yet because he is taking great trouble over the printing and fixing. He asks which Becker wants first.
