Letter from Piloty & Loehle to Dr. Ernst Becker regarding a head of St Michael by Raphael in the Pinakothek in Munich, of which they offer to have a lithograph made.

The writer states that there is a head of St Michael painted by Raphael in the royal Pinakothek in Munich, of which they enclose an outline engraving and other details (not present). If the Prince Consort would like a lithograph copy of it, they are willing to provide this on the same basis as the other three Raphael paintings. Piloty & Loehle apologise for their previous complaint about Becker's payments, and insist that their only motive was to prevent him being overcharged by profiteering bankers. They will charge each library [presumably Queen Victoria's and the Prince Consort's] for the photographs of the portrait of Tsar Alexander of Russia, and they look forward to further commissions from Dr. Becker. The previous correspondence mentioned only two Raphael paintings, although this letter says three were copied for the Prince.
