JOSEPH CUNDALL (1819-95)

Letter from Joseph Cundall to Dr. Ernst Becker reporting that he has permission to photograph Lord Methuen's Madonna.

15 Aug 1859

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/65

Cundall reports that Lord Methuen has given him permission to photograph his [Raphael] Madonna; he asks whether Becker knows of a 'Dancing Girl' by Raphael owned by Mr Hope of Piccadilly and of another Raphael picture belonging to Mr Stewart of Hill Street. A note by Becker on the letter records his reply asking Cundall to photograph the former and report back to him on the latter; also to photograph Lord Leicester's three pictures and Lord Spencer's picture at Althorp [all presumably by Raphael].
